James Tilson Kindergarten recognises that it is through play that children of this age learn most readily. We encourage children’s play through the use of unstructured materials that have no right or wrong way of using them such as sand, water, paint, clay, Playdough, blocks and collage. Children will not always have “work” to take home- don’t be concerned as an hour spent with the blocks or in home corner interacting with a group of children will provide many opportunities for learning.

In 2009 The Early Years Learning Framework for Australia was developed. The Framework’s vision is for all children to experience play-based learning that is engaging and builds success for life. The Framework is used to development learning programs responsive to children’s ideas, interests, strengths and abilities, and recognises that children learn through play.

The Framework describes childhood as a time of ‘Belonging, Being and Becoming’.

At James Tilson we value the Belonging, Being, Becoming, through that development of our relationships with your child, you, your family, the local Schools and the broader community. The Kindergarten offers two 15 hour government funded 4 year old programs with a maximum of 22 students in each group. Groups, days and times are listed below;
